This one piece jackshaft assembly delivers more torque to the primary and is more tolerant of mis-alignment problems than the stock assembly. The starter motor drive gear that extends from the armature protrudes into the starter motor housing. It engages and meshes with the outer perimeter of the jackshaft starter pinion gear.

The jackshaft pinion gear has a hollow splined center. The starter motor jackshaft has identical splinage near one end that fits through and locks the jackshaft pinion gear in place.

Therefore a rotating starter motor's armature drive gear meshes with and drives the jackshaft pinion gear. The jackshaft pinion gear, will in turn rotate the starter motor jackshaft that extends from the starter motor housing across to the prirnary chaincase above the clutch hub and in to a bearing support in the in side of the outer primary. The inside end of the starter jackshaft is supported in the starter motor housing by a bearing just past the splined portion that locks in the jackshaft pinion bearing. There are two gears in the starter system referred to as pinion gears. The starter motor pinion gear sits in the starter motor housing.

The Bendix drive pinion gear engages the clutch hub ring gear. Both gears sit on and are supported by the starter motor jackshaft. Your item will be professionally & carefully packed and despatched in a timely manner.
